Russian River Valley
2012 Russian River Pinot Noir
TASTING NOTES: This wine's deep ruby color is a sign of the concentrated aroma and flavors to come. Classic Pinot Noir aromas of rose, raspberry, and cranberry are complemented by pomegranate rose petals, caramelized sugar, smoke and a hint of clean earth. More beautiful, dark berry flavors follow, with notes of plum, vanilla, toasty oak, and leather. This beautifully balanced wine has a silky entry and a lingering finish.
HARVEST & VINEYARD: From bud-break to harvest, near-perfect conditions resulted in fruit of optimal ripeness, balance, and quality. The 2012 vintage is being heralded as one of Sonoma's best.
Our Castiglioni Vineyard is located in the southwest corner of the Russian River Valley, near the town of Sebastopol. This vineyard yields small crops of concentrated fruit. The area's warm days allow grapes to achieve ripen evenly and fully, and its limestone soil brings brightness and minerality to the fruit and resulting wine.
FOOD PAIRING: Carnitas, Grilled Salmon, Wild Mushroom Ravioli and Dark Chocolate Mousse.
